As a composer, Joel creates music and sound for film, live sound installations and commercial use. His film scores have premiered at Sundance, San Francisco International Film Festival and River Run among others. His most recent sound installation is at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC and he has created audio branding and mnemonics for HBO, Showtime and IFC.

Joel is based in Portland, Oregon where he makes music with real acoustic instruments, analog synthesizers and modern digital audio manipulation.
